Aqeedah/Tawheed
Here, the learner is taught all aspects of Islam that relates to the oneness of Allah. Some of the topics covered include:
- Branches of tawheed, that is, Oneness of Allah in His Lordship, Oneness of Allah in His worship and Oneness of Allah in His Names and Attributes.
- Shirk, types of shirk, and dangers of shirk.
- Ways to be firm in tawheed and stay away from shirk.
Hadeeth
Under this subject, the learner is given a brief introduction to the science of hadeeth and how to differentiate between hadeeth saheeh and hadeeth dha’eef. Additionally, the learner is also taught some of the hadeeth and importance of hadeeth in a Muslim’s day to day life.
Fiqh
This subject pertains to rulings in every aspect of Islam. The learner is specifically taught rulings relating to the five pillars of Islam. For instance,
- Fiqh of salah, that is, niyyah, pillars of salah, fard and sunnah prayers, fard acts of salah, sunnah acts of salah among others.
- Fiqh of saum such as niyyah, dos and don’ts etc.
- Fiqh of zakat for example, the types of zakat, who can give, who can receive among others.
- Fiqh of hajj such as types of hajj and when hajj is done etc.
The subject enables the learner to act accordingly in different situations especially relating to the pillars of Islam.
Tafseer
The main objective of this subject is to enable the learner to understand the Quran and to implement it in his/her life. The learner is taken through word to word translation of Juz Amma, and through this he/she gets to learn new Arabic words.
Seerah
Here, the learner is taught the history and life of the prophet, such as, his descendent, family, revelations, and call to Islam among others. Through this subject the learner gets a sense of belonging since he/she gets a deeper understanding of Islam.
Dua/Adhkar
Under this topic the learner is taught dua/adhkar from the Qur’an and Sunnah for different places, time and occasions. Additionally, if the learner makes the dua/adhkar learnt with ikhlas, then Allah protects Him.
Akhlaq
The learner will be taught about Islamic manners related to different topics such as manners of eating, drinking, sleeping, amongst others. It is very much important for Muslims to learn the Islamic manners and good behaviors.
