This is the first stage of learning Arabic language, the learner will be taught how to read, write Arabic letters and words. Translation of some Arabic words is also taught. The learner is exposed to common statements mostly used in Arabic conversations such as greetings and day to day etiquette.
Here, the learner should have a basic background in Arabic such that he/she can read and write Arabic but still needs some couching on the grammatical part. Therefore, the intermediate level mostly deals in perfecting the reading and writing skills and also in sentence construction. Grammatical couching and extensive translation is also done at this level.
At the advance level, a learner should be in a position to read, write, understand and speak Arabic. Oral communication might be a challenge due to lack of practicing hence the learner is couched on how to speak fluent Arabic.
